Dear members and supporters of the Tel Aviv University center for combatting pandemics (TCCP),
First, we wish to extend greeting for the Jewish beginning of the years to all of you. May we all witness a less stressful and more peaceful future.
The two years since October 7 have been incredibly challenging for all of us. Together we pray for the imminent return of the 48 hostages still held captive in Gaza.
So, we wish you SHANA TOVA!
With heavy hearts, we announce that after five years of dedicated academic work, the center is ending its activities.
Throughout this period, the center awarded research grants and scholarships to support and encourage researchers and students in the field of pandemics. The center encouraged multi-disciplinary discussions focused on lessons we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. We had four successful annual conferences that enriched all of us.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all partners, researchers, and participants who contributed to the center’s mission and success. Special thanks to the members of the board of the TCCP who helped design the activities of the center and in carrying them out.
We also express our deep appreciation to the donors who generously provided the funding that supported the center's budget. Among them are Tel Aviv University Honorary Doctor Frank Lowy, Board of Governors members Dr. Kathy Fields-Rayant and Dr. Gary Rayant, the Yuri Milner Foundation, Yad Hanadiv, and donors affiliated with American Friends of Tel Aviv University.
Special thanks to the President of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Ariel Porat, who initiated and led the establishment of the center; to Mr. Amos Elad, Vice President for Resource Development, for coordinating the fundraising efforts; and to the Vice President for Research and Development, Prof. Dan Peer, who oversaw the center's activity.
The closing of the TCCP is by no means a happy event. However, with both global and domestic interest in pandemic preparedness declining since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that this is the appropriate time to conclude our activities. May the legacy of the TCCP continue to inspire scientific courage and solidarity.
Best wishes to all of you!

Director of the TCCP
