Research Interests:
In our research we aim to uncover the mechanisms at the basis of the relations between exposure to different types of stressors or traumatic events (e.g., childhood sexual, physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, and COVID-19 related stressors), and various outcomes, including psychological distress and psychopathology (e.g., PTSD, depression, suicidality), somatic and physical health difficulties (e.g., chronic pain, morbidity, somatization) as well as functional difficulties (e.g., vocational, social, and familial functioning).
Currently active projects in the lab also include studies that explore the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic, in order to identify risk and protective factors that explain individuals’ vulnerability for mental and somatic distress during the pandemic.
We use an interdisciplinary approach, advanced research methods and rigorous statistical analyses to understand the underlying dynamics of the questions at hand, and to promote the development of clinical interventions.
