Research Interests:
Research in my laboratory focuses on the regulation, function and evolution of pathogenesis systems of bacterial intracellular pathogens.
We study the bacterial pathogens Legionella (a causative agent of pneumonia outbreaks) and Coxiella (a potential bioterrorism agent) and we use genomic, genetic, bioinformatic and biochemical approaches to answer fundamental questions regarding the way by which these bacteria manipulate their host cells.
