Prof. Eran Toch

Dr. Eran Toch is the co-director of the IWiT Lab (Interacting with Technology Lab) at the Department of Industrial Engineering, The Iby and Aladar Fleischman Faculty of Engineering , Tel Aviv University.

 

Eran’s research group studies how human-computer interaction and machine learning can help people better manage their online experiences, privacy and security online. The group is working on various projects that revolve around computationally analysis of human behavior and applying this knowledge to enhance people’s online experience, safety, and productivity. The group’s projects are funded by such as the Israeli Science Foundation (ISF), Horizon 2020, DARPA, Israel Ministry of Science, Safra Center for Ethics, and Checkpoint Institute.

Prior to joining Tel Aviv University, Eran was a post-doc fellow at the Carnegie Mellon University, School of Computer Science. Eran has a Ph.D. from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. More information is available at the group’s website. 

 

Research Interests:

  • Usable privacy and security: Information privacy, privacy in social networks, privacy in mobile and pervasive computing, privacy in genetic databases
  • Human-Computer Interaction: Interaction with mobile computing, the physical context of interaction, interruptive computing, AI methods for HCI
  • Machine Learning for Human Behavior: Analyzing patterns of human behavior, data-driven smart cities, and approximation methods
